What we’re doing in Beacon Hill

Green Buildings Now aims to address two related moral imperatives: curbing greenhouse gas emissions and bringing justice to communities that have suffered disproportionate harm from the use of fossil fuels.

Our first commitment is to bring the benefits of clean energy to the four buildings of the South Beacon Hill Resilience Hub, on the campus of Bethany United Church of Christ.

The Resilience Hub, which houses nonprofit community service and advocacy organizations, will continue to provide services year-round and will be prepared to meet community needs in an emergency.

We are raising funds to weatherize the buildings and replace oil and gas energy systems with clean electric systems such as heat pumps. This will mean cleaner air and lower utility bills for campus partner groups led by people of color.
